Iridology Returns this Month!

Iridology is one of the most valued practices of the modern naturopath. Through the study of the iris, signs of areas of the body that may need assistance can be seen by the trained Iridologist.

When: 19th & 20th March
Where: The Member’s Lounge
Time: Between 5pm & 8pm – every 20 minutes
Cost: Members: $50 PLUS You will gain 50 Fitreward points; Non-Members: $66

Member of the Month – Kim!

Kim Vidler

Kim Vidler is our February Member of the Month

Kim was selected as she is always cheerful, excited & happy when she enters the club, she always enjoys having a chat and she loves coming to the club. She trains weekly with Av and has improved her body shape! The fantastic results she has achieved are a direct result of her commitment.

Congratulations Kim!

 

Why do strength training?

Strength Training

The importance of lifting weights cannot be underestimated. No matter your age or sex, strength training will:

  • Help speed up your metabolism – aiding in weight loss;
  • Strengthen the body and all it components in case you fall;
  • Help tone the muscles; and
  • Lots more reasons!

Staying Active when Injured!

Do you suffer from back pain, shin soreness or any little niggles? These small niggles don’t have to stop you from working out.

Robyn is our physio in the Club. She has over 15 years experience as a physio and she will help you fix the niggles and keep you working out!

Her hours are:

  • Mondays 1:30 to 8:30pm
  • Tuesdays 7:30 to 2:30pm
  • Wednesdays 7:30 to 10am
  • Thursdays 1:30 to 8pm
  • Fridays 7:30 to 1:30pm

Robyn is also available to come to your workplace to conduct ergonomic assessments of work stations and seminars to staff on OH&S issues.

Rebates for your treatments are available through your private health insurance.

Catherine Moves to London!

We are always unhappy when we lose a Team Member and Catherine will be sorely – literally – missed by members and the Team. Catherine has accepted a once in a lifetime opportunity to take up a 3 month contract with a London soccer Team as their massage therapist.

We are hoping that Catherine will return in 3 months but with Europe on her door step, she could well get the travel bug!

Please join us in wishing her well on her new challenge!

And for regular massage clients . . . don’t panic we’ll have a new therapist by the end of the month. Catherine is “testing” all our applicants!

 

Avril is Inspirational!

Avril Henry

Avril Henry has been a member of Active for over 10 years and last year she realised one of her dreams. In February 2006, she was invited to participate in the Inaugral New York Half Marathon, so without stating the obvious, she set herself the goal to travel to her favourite city in the world!

Avril completed the run in 2.5 hours, which was a great effort considering she is an international key note speaker, an independent business owners and had bronchitis just weeks before!

Now she has a new goal the 2007 New York Marathon! She is personal training with Chris and is on her way!

The message for you – when you set a goal it makes it easier to stay motivated to train! Why not sit down with one of our Team and set your 2007 goals! We are here to help you like we helped Avril!

 

Nutritional Update

An apple a day

A new addition to our newsletter comes from our Team Member, Holly. She is currently studying nutrition and this month has put together a great article on exposing the Glycaemic Index! To see the article click here.

 

Member Appreciation Breakfast

Last month we took a group of members to breakfast just to say ‘thanks’ for being a member. Here is just some photos.

Every couple of months, we will randomly select members to join us for breakfast. Keep your eyes open for your invitation and we really hope you can join us.

Boot Camp Has Started!

This month see our first Boot Camp! We have a motivated troop and you will be able to see them leaving for their work outs 3 times a week at 0605hr!

The next Boot Camp starts in May, so if you are interested in joining the Active Army let any of the Active Team know or email Duncan. You will gain 199 Fitreward points when you enlist.

Corporate Boot Camp starts in April! What a great team building activity. We need just a minimum of 4 from a company and we can have up to 24 in a Boot Camp. If you company is interested contact Duncan.

 

Did You Know?

Justin Tamsett

This is a new section where you can get to know some of our Team. This month it is one of the owner’s of Active Health Club – Justin. So did you know that Justin is:

  • The President of FitnessNSW – he was the inaugural President 8 years ago and was returned in 2006;
  • A key note speaker – he will be speaking this year in the USA, UK, Indonesia, New Zealand and in Sydney!
  • The Assistant Coach of 2nd Grade at Norths Rugby Club.
  • The owner of a staffie called Dallas!

FREE Cardio Challenge: Back to The Future
A fun program to keep you motivated every work out! We will help you set some small and important goals, so that every workout you achieve a little more!
Starts: 2nd April
Finishes: 29th April
It will FREE to participate in the fun and you will gain 100 Fitreward points for enrolling in the program! So keep your eyes peeled in your email box and for the posters in the Club.

Boxing

A new boxing program for our members and their friends will help you work off the week end kilos!

  • On various days and times each week
  • 30 minutes of fun and challenging work outs
  • Each time slot will have a minimum of 4 people and a maximum of 16
  • Members: $59; Non-members: $99 – included inner gloves & 59 Fitreward points!
