Stacey’s Wise Words

StaceyIncrease your incidental activity to change your health - this is the amount of activity you do in a day not including your regular exercise routines.

You could:

  • Walk to work or get out one stop before your destination
  • Walk to the gym
  • Never use the remote- throw it away!
  • Play with the kids for 15 minutes per day
  • Take the stairs not the lift
  • Take the stairs not the escalator during your shopping trip
  • Walk to tell your work mate what you were going to email
  • Attend your local walks/fun runs- Active Fun Run is Sunday 4th November- enroll now at the front desk!

Incidental exercise can have a huge effect on working towards and achieving your health and fitness.

A great way to monitor and help you increase your incidental activity is to wear a pedometer- this will count your step each day and give you motivation to improve your steps daily.

If you would like to purchase a pedometer to start improving your incidental exercise, you can grab one at the front desk for $20 next time you are in the club- we will give you a 30 minute consultation with a Program Coach to show you how to improve your steps each day and you will be well on your way to improving your Health.

Launching November – on-line booking!

To improve our services to you, you will be able to book program upgrades, FitnessAge appraisals, the tennis court and even massage through our website! Keep your eyes open for more information!

NEW Results Coach

Nathan

This month we are very excited to announce our very Nathan has been promoted to a Results Coach.  Nathan has been a Program Coach and assisted in the Biiggest Loser Program.  This has motivated him so much that his body shape has changed too – just ask him his exercise secrets!

We are always excited and pleased to promote from within and Nathan really deserves this opportunity and with his personal results proving he can do it himself, you have nothing to lose – except maybe some weight – if you start personal training with him!

In November, Nathan has 10 complimentary sessions he can give away each week!  If you would like to try training with Nathan, call the Club now on 9870 8775 and book a complimentary session!

Exercise of the Month by Chris

Exerciseof the month

Start:Sit on a Swiss ball (stability ball) with a weight in each hand. Walk your feet forward on the floor as you lie back on the ball. Keep walking your feet away from the ball until your head, neck and shoulders are resting securely on top. Squeeze your butt and raise your hips so that your body forms a straight line from head to hips to knees. Extend both arms straight up above your chest, palms facing forward.

Finish:Bend your elbows out to the sides at 90-degree angles, palms always facing forward. Then push your arms straight back up and repeat.

Safety Tip: Avoid letting your butt sag as you drop your arms. Tighten your abs and butt to keep your body straight.

  • 2 avocados, halved and skin removed
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 3 roma tomatoes, quartered, deseeded and finely diced
  • 1/2 bunch shallots, finely sliced
  • 1 lebanese cucumber, halved lengthways, deseeded and finely diced
  • 1/4 cup basil leaves, roughly chopped
  • 1 bunch rocket leaves, rinsed
  • 1/2 cup baby black olives
  • Dressing:
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Here's how

  1. Combine dressing ingredients in a small jar with lid and shake well.
  2. Place the tomato, shallots, cucumber and basil in a small bowl; add the dressing and mix to combine.
  3. Drizzle the lemon juice over the avocado halves. Use a small knife to remove a 2-3mm slice of the rounded side of the avocado half. Place the avocado halves on serving plates. Divide the tomato salad equally among the 4 avocado halves.
