This month’s tip from Jay Conrad Levinson is how to maximise the old fashioned ‘snail mail.’  If you are sending unsolicited mail to people to generate leads and or sales, people will more likely open envelopes that are:

  • Hand written
  • Not white
  • Not window face – this will be a bill!

We have now conducted the inaugural FitnessBiz 07 conference in Melbourne with 54 people and Brisbane with 23 people.

This month’s tips from Gail Goodman, the CEO of Constant Contact:

Ask those you meet when networking and at trade shows to join. When you meet people at networking events and trade shows, tell them about your free e-newsletter or your email-only specials and ask them if they would like to join your list.

Offer incentives for signing up. It's amazing how a freebie or a chance to win a prize can be just what a person needs to "take the plunge" and sign up for your email list. Your giveaway doesn't have to be costly; it can be as simple as sharing your expertise in the form of a free whitepaper or guide. Make it clear to those who sign up that they will be added to your list.

 

Viral marketing – the future?

Every week on TV there is a story on what is possible on the Internet.  In the last month we have received 25 invitation to join MySpace or Facebook!  The future is now and is on-line.  We need to embrace it and get our head around how we can use it in our businesses.

Of all word-of-mouth (WOM) tactics, viral marketing has probably drawn the most attention from marketers. According to a 2006 study by JupiterResearch, cited in Internet Retailer, the biggest goal of viral marketers was to increase brand awareness (71%). Half also expected to drive online sales, and 44% hoped to drive offline sales.

Businesses to consumers are more likely to consider blog mentions and posting to sites such as MySpace or YouTube to be something that would generate attention for their viral campaigns.

Business to business marketers were more interested in getting their viral campaigns mentioned in an online publication or business print publication.

 

When Green is Gold!

Did you know that in a recent survey nearly 50% of Americans switched brands once they found out that the company they were purchasing from was environmentally irresponsible!  So what are you doing to go green in your business.

Last month we were interested to read about Fitness First’s quest – Future First: Green; Safe; Well!  They are certainly putting their money where their mouth is and are spending in excess of $A2m per year in energy and water saving initiatives – including investing in grey water systems in all new clubs!

We would love to hear what you are doing to help make the world a better place for kids.

Lead Generating Idea!

If you have ever heard Justin present on retention or marketing strategies he always suggests running education seminars for the members. Last month Active Health Club joined in the success that many Fernwood clubs have had, by having Michelle Bridges, the Australian Biggest Loser Trainer, present at the Club.

Michelle’s presentation style is empathetic and caring but also no nonsense. She has some great catch phrases that people pick up on and find extremely motivating.  She will also increase the sales of personal training for you!

Justin’s Travels

What a month!  Since we last chatted I had an awesome holiday in Chile, Argentina and Brazil with Robyn.  We visited the Iguazu Falls which were simply amazing – next month I will share what I learnt about business from seeing these amazing waterfalls!

Of course, like a good workaholic, I did some work in Brazil.  I did 2 and ½ days with my friend Edgard from Bioritmo and his Team.  We had 50 of his Team and some of his Face to Face clients from Brazil.  We covered lots of information and have his Team pumped up on the ‘Fish Philosophy!’

I was then home for a couple of days before heading to NZ for BizGrow 07 run by FitnessNZ.  Richard, Stephen & Nathan run an awesome event!  I had a great time sharing my knowledge and catching up with Kiwi friends.

Of course then I started the FitnessBiz tour in Australia!  This was interrupted by a days flight to north Queensland, as I have been employed to help design a new community recreation centre – I am really excited with this opportunity!  Thanks Jamie!

Next week I head to the UK for Fitpro as the guest of Tim Webster.  This is my first time to the UK for a fitness convention, so I am very excited!

I also have been selected to present at IHRSA in March 2008, Filex in April 2008 and most recently in Argentina in April 2008!

So while work is great my rugby side lost their Grand Final on Saturday.  I was feeling confident but we just didn’t aim up on the day.  As they say, “there is always next year” but as I say, “Not!”
